Learning with Lambs

Local livestock producers have supported the Corinth Holders Agricultural Education Department for several years. Partnering up with these local producers,  animals were brought to campus for students to see and learn hands-on. In August, Bit O' Heaven Farm loaned 12 lambs to the school for students to gain hands-on experience in class and to show at the North Carolina State Fair. Students and show team members have enjoyed having the lambs on campus to interact with throughout the school day. Having lambs on campus allows students to learn skills taught in the classroom and to apply them to real life scenarios. Students are able to learn about proper feeding, handling, and maintenance.

This year we had several returning show team members, including Madison Massey, Lanie Strickland, Marissa Bond, Marie Prince, and Madison Prince.

We also had several new members join the team including Ryan Partrick, Hope Beasley,  Abigail Perry, Sara Pinkowski, Carolina Petersen and Mariam Guirgis.

Show team members practiced three to four times a week putting in several hours after school to ensure their lambs were show ready at the NC State Fair. Even with Hurricane Matthew hindering practice schedules and school days, the team members did not let it impact their show experience.

This year show team members placed well in their classes.
